The premise behind VOLTA_CHROMA is simple: I wanted a skin that feels non-existent to use and also look amazing.
At first, I just wanted to modify some existing skins. However, as soon as I got to it, the list of things I wanted to tweak got a little too long...
- Boarderless game display
- A D-Pad that is hard to misinput
- Ample tolerance between the face buttons
- Ample padding on the bottom to leave space for the home indicator
- Large Select and Start keys
- Save, load, and fast-forward toggle functions
... VOLTA_CHROMA is what birthed from it. It came naturally, and for me, it feels just right to use.
However, I realize that people might prefer or need the default jointed D-Pad, so I made a version with that as well.
While I was at it, I made a pair of dark versions to go along with them.
This whole project didn't take that long and was quite a fun experience, would recommend making your own skin if you ever feel like it.
Making the skins is one thing, selecting a set of layout and color palette for a release is another, and a surprisingly diffcult task at that.
From personal experience I understand that what's good for one might be off for another. Hand size, device size, and ambient lighting all matter in their own subtle ways.
So please leave a comment whether you enjoy this skin or think it could be made better for you. If there's interest I might adding some more variant versions.
